As part of the reopening of a supermarket in an existing shopping center, ceiling openings in a steel and reinforced concrete structure that were no longer needed were closed, and the areas were adapted to their new use. To ensure the building’s stability during the necessary demolition of a bracing stairwell, new reinforced concrete walls spanning several floors and an additional elevator shaft were constructed in advance.

Particular flexibility was required due to the adjacent hotel operations. Noisy work could be carried out only within agreed-upon time windows. Through close coordination among all parties involved and the flexible adaptation of construction processes, disruptions to hotel guests and neighboring specialty stores were kept to a minimum.
